The Serenity of Winter Sunrises

Dodging all the craziness that surrounds the holidays and getting to the end of the year, there have been some pretty spectacular sunrises recently around DC. I caught a gorgeous one from the Lincoln Memorial just before heading home for a night holiday break. With the reflecting pool starting to freeze over, there were only a few other people out. A far cry from the usual bustle that accompanies a summer sunrise. It is always pleasant for me being at these amazing locations with this few people around. The stillness adds to the sense of monumentality and reflection.
