A Morning on the Beach

For many years, I’ve been visiting Rehoboth Beach with Heather’s family. I’ve caught some beautiful sunrises, but I’ve always seen a series of WWII-era watch towers far off down the beach. These structures are relics of keeping watch on the eastern seaboard as Nazi U-Boats sought to disrupt shipping during the second world war

Taking the two mile hike up to the watch towers for sunrise is no easy feat. The results were worth the hike in the summer morning heat.

The contrast of the concrete towers against tire-marked beach and sprigs of dune grass is quite beautiful.

I highly recommend taking the time to venture up to Cape Henlopen State Park while you’re in the area. In addition to the two watch towers here, there are nine others along the Delaware coast.
